what keeps me running?

Jesus touched my life in a way that I could never explain on an ezboard profile. it is Him who makes life worth living, and i hope that i can honor Him and point people to Him. for most of my life i rejected religion, and it is still a constant battle to grow closer to what God has intended for us to be while being wary of the human constructs. ultimately our purpose is to love God with all our hearts, obey what He has created us to be, and try to live up to the teachings of Jesus. if only living it were as simple as typing it.

who am i?

i'm a student at a university which is not in the city it's named after. we're next door to the 5th most conservative city in the US. my vote doesn't count. i don't want to face the real world so i'm pursing a graduate degree or two. i'm a dirty hippie at heart, but i shaved off my dreadlocks a while ago so it's mostly hidden until you get to know me.

what do i do?

late night spades games. public transit hopping. reading max weber and emile durkheim. biking around here is dangerous because they don't really care about bike paths in these parts, but i ride when i can anyway. playing with my karl marx finger puppet. accidentally killing goldfish. stressing out about homework. staying up until the wee hours of the morning discussing the effects of the protestant reformation on the formation of nation-states in europe and how it affected the development of capitalism. asking people questions they don't know how to answer or don't want to think about. not using the shift key.

I love this game. For those who don't know, people get in a circle and go around, calling out something that they have *not* done. The structure is "Never have I ever… (something)." Everybody starts with holding up ten fingers; those who have done the thing just called out have to put down a finger. Whoever loses all of their fingers is out of the game.

In tonight's game, I was in the final three. I had three fingers left; the other two girls had one finger each....
